well, hello there!

Welcome to the Chocolate Cactus blogsite.  A little of this and a little of that, all rolled into one big ball of goodness.  Here you will be able to read the latest, see recent works and read random babbles all in one place.  You're one lucky duck.

With nine years of design experience and an accomplished marketing background, owner and creative director Jodi Bell prefers a straightforward, personalized approach to her design work. "Everything I design is done with marketing in mind," states this former designer for a Houston-based magazine. It is her philosophy that "Standout designs equal effective marketing". The result is that the marketing and branding process is made infinitely easier for her clients. Jodi's portfolio reveals her love of typography and clean, no-frills designs. It is this that makes her designs standout creations that market themselves. 


Chocolate Cactus offers a variety of design work. Jodi's talents include creating complete identities to collateral materials and logo designs. Aside from logos, one of her specialties is custom one-of-a-kind announcements and wedding invitations. Because her clean, fresh designs appeal to a wide variety of industries, her client list includes not only photographers worldwide but also boutiques, auto manufacturers and just about everything in between.

Jodi has a special affinity for her photographer clients, most likely because she's a photographer herself, having won accolades and recognition for her photographic work. A self-professed font queen, Jodi lives in the Houston, Texas area with her husband and four sons. She continues the hunt for clean, fabulous typography...over 3,500 fonts and counting.

Seems that I have been whipping out more playful, whimsy stuff lately!  Once again, I have added some new designs that lean that direction.  I have to say, I have a special love for a few of these illustrations, so whoever gets them – take good care of them (ha)!

As said before, each month I will take several logo designs that I have created (that were not chosen) and place them for sale. They need good homes too, you know.  These are essentially concepts that were presented that clients didn't choose, but that may work for others.  While I am a huge advocate for custom design, I realize that part of my audience are photographers who are either just starting their businesses, or ones who simply may not be able to swing the cost of a custom logo just yet. 

Here's how it works: 

The design will remain intact, and after choosing the one you want, you will tell me what text to place within the design (you will be able to easily change the color in Photoshop according to your likes). All of the logo files will come to you as they do to all my other clients. You will get two files, a layered psd file (Photoshop raster file), and an ai file (Illustrator vector file) as well as easy peasy color change instructions. 

That's it! Easy! No waiting for concepts, no questionnaire to fill out. These sell for $200.

Here's the scoop – they are numbered, so if you see one you want, email me at jodi -at- chocolatecactus.com with the number you’re interested in to confirm availability.  They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.  When a logo is sold, I will post it on my blog to let everyone know.  After I confirm with you that a design is still available via email, I will ask for the info you'd like in your design and will then give you the PayPal email address to submit payment to. Once received, the design files will be sent out!  Easy as pie.

And I thought I'd do another quick incentive – email me within the next 24 hours with the secret word "LEGO" (yes, I have a Lego maniac!) and you will receive $25 off your Vault logo.
